Today 22 nd May 2010, At least 160 people have been killed after an Air India Express aircraft from Dubai, carrying 173 passengers, overshot the runway and ploughed into the forest while landing at the Mangalore airport on Saturday morning.
This is for people who think the government is to be blamed or Air India. The aircraft was not outdated. It was a Boeing 737-800 In situations where the weather does not support you, there are very few things you can do. But still there must be few things to be taken into the consideration. And the first thing is stop blaming blindly and to see to the real facts where exactly we are lacking. It happens in all world, but the point is they are learning from the mistakes. It’s a lessons for us too. Hope we will get a better and assured aviation services next time when we will leave or touch the Indian ground.
A lot of indian airports are in a shabby state and the runways do not have landing facilities like Instrument Landing System(ILS) despite a lot of pollution and fog which makes it difficult for pilots to adopt a decent glide slope. Stating that Air India aircrafts aren't up to mark is an understatement. When is the government going to realize this and do something to prevent these kind of accidents? They are happy to put the lives of the citizens at risk as long as they stay in the power for 5 years and make enough money for themselves and their relatives! Spending billions of dollars on Commonwealth Games and IPL isn't going to improve the country's image in the international arena. Cant we just spend a little more for the next gen safety equipments for our people.
Indian aviations are one amongst of the most running and busy aviation services. And as the time goes on people need a more secure and safe air travel. Although we got everything what we need for taking us from ground to 36000 feet still we need something more which can assure us to take us down from 36000 feet to 0 mile even in the not friendly wether.
Lets pray for the people who lost their lives in the terrific plane crash today morning and hope for the best in future , hope we will never hear the news like this again.
